When the weather looks suspicious, San Jose is notorious for sudden changes
to the forecasts. Be sure to check the club Google group email list before
heading to the event. All events typically go on when it rains with the
exception of the criteriums.

NEW SINCE LAST YEAR: Park on
the sides of the road near the dam, which is the finish line,
or the scenic way:
From San Jose south on
Monterey Road Hwy. to Bailey turn right heading west to Santa Teresa Road.
Continue on Bailey Road over the top of the hill to the T intersection. Turn
left onto McKee Road and follow it south for approximately 10 miles to Uvas
Reservoir. The starting location is adjacent to the top of the Uvas Dam.
location (DIFFERENT FROM PREVIOUS YEARS): MAP
The course is a combination of all terrains,
Flats, Hills, and rolling terrain. The most challenging part of the course is
the part called "THE WALL", for obvious reasons.
"THE WALL" is 10 miles into the course and consists of a 3/8
of a mile grade at 10% and above. The course is 16 miles per lap, all turns are
right handers. From the start the course heads north along a generally flat
sections for 3 or so miles.
The course then hits some long
rolling stretches before turning right onto Oak Glen. The course then proceeds
along a flat section in the westerly direction along Chesbro Reservoir with a
few mild rollies before again turning right at Llagas Road. The section along
Llagas is generally flat and can be very fast in a fast group.
However, this is where the party ends, upon turning right onto Sycamore road
and approaching the infamous "WALL" Once over the
"WALL", if you can make it over, then a right turn onto
Watsonville Road is made followed by a right back onto Uvas Road and following
the rollies back to the finish.
