This classic 63.5 mile road course climbs 4,500' in the first 20 miles to the top of Mt. Hamilton, then continues 43 miles through remote ranch lands to the finish in Livermore, on Mines Rd. 0.5 miles south of Del Valle. Total elevation gain exceeds 6,000'. Neutral water bottle handout at Isabel Creek, mile 25. Feed zone is at mile 40 at the fire station at the junction of San Antonio Valley Rd. and Del Puerto Canyon Rd. Feed vehicles must precede the PRO/1 field or approach the feed zone via Livermore and Mines Rd.
Route: L on Fleming Ave, R on Alum Rock Ave, R on Mt. Hamilton Rd., straight on San Antonio Valley Rd., straight on Mines Rd.
All pre-registration is through www.bikereg.com and registration closes on Thursday, May 23rd at 9:00pm PDT. Entry fee includes USA Cycling and NCNCA surcharge. Entry fees do not include online entry surcharges. Current District Road Race Champions race for free, entry fee reimbursed at race day, must wear jersey. Promoter reserves right to combine/cancel/add fields if conditions warrant. No refunds will be issued.

For 2019, The 8th annual Race to the Observatory! Intended for Men Cat 5's, Women Cat 4/5's, recreational riders, low-key hill climbers and cycling enthusiasts. Race to the top of Mt. Hamilton and compare your results to the pro's! All results will be posted on the USAC Cycling website shortly after conclusion of the event.
